Flicker Fun

November 12, 2020

Flicker fall 2020 3

It’s been awhile since we have had a regular sighting of the Yellow Shafted Flickers. I found them nesting in a hole about 20′ up in a dead tree this spring, but once the leaves came out they were pretty stealthy. They are just now coming back into the feeders, which probably means the other grub they like (insects) are starting to thin out. When they need to, they’ll readily consume suet. Really, they are a very pretty bird to have around.
