Ice Capades

February 25, 2022

A lot is happening on the ice around here of late. Or what remains of it I should say. As melting progresses, eagles know there is food not only in the newly opened waters but also within the ice itself. So the thawing exposes a lot of good grub, well, as far as eagle tastes go anyway. All this means is that you’ll see eagles sitting around a lot more on the ice. Of course, they will still fly in and pluck a fish out of the cold waters, but in addition, it’s not above them to stroll around the edges of the ice and find a fish close by. Reaching in with one foot, or sometimes jumping in with both feet, scores a meal. It’s not as dramatic as a flight, but I figure it tastes just as good.
