“Are people more important than the grizzly bear? Only from the point of view of some people.”~Edward Abbey
Ed Abbey was never one to mince words or hold back on how he felt about things. His uncompromising love for the wilderness and wild things will always be monumental to me. Whether you agreed with him or not in specifics, one could not argue against the larger premise…that protecting such places and things was paramount to remaining truly human. A wholly synthetic world will simply not do. For a great read, I’ll suggest one of my favorites, written by Abbey about his time as a park ranger in the early days of Arches National Park. Desert Solitaire is awesome.
This image was taken on a lovely Montana morning at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. GWDC is a wildlife sanctuary and educational center whose work I fully support.
