Curves – Badlands National Park

January 8, 2019

After a monumental sunrise, once the sun breaks over the horizon, I generally call it a morning for landscapes.  The light is often too harsh and shadows too strong to work with.  But if there are light, wispy clouds around, you can get more mileage out of the morning.  And that’s what happened here.  The light was very good, but no overpowering.  The sky retained that beautiful blue tone, and for some reason the clouds above  matched the curving of the ground below.  I was able to keep shooting up to about 10:30 this morning…and enjoyed every minute of it!
