We are fortunate here in the upper Midwest, to have a variety of birds come and visit us when the winter arrives. That’s not to say we don’t appreciate our day-to-day birds…we certainly do. But a fresh face now and then is welcome. The Red Breasted Nuthatch is one of those. Super small, but virtually fearless of a human by the feeder, they are a treat to see up close. They can stay all winter long if they like.
