By late summer, many shallow river backwaters in Iowa will have been taken over by plants. Plants that will soon provide sustenance to migrating waterfowl. Nature, if left alone, takes good care of its own it seems. After all, time and experience is on it’s side. This intertwined relationship has come about through thousands of years (at least) of evolution and cooperation. And to think that somehow we feeble humans could outdo all that. Why, we’d have better luck trying to reign in a fleeting comet.
