Sunset Flight – Credit Island

February 4, 2020

Sometimes you just luck out a little.  This afternoon was spent taking a few photographs of eagles at Credit Island in Davenport.  The backwaters had opened up from ice with a recent warming trend.  Eagles love the easy pickings when this happens…frozen fish now become accessible again.

As the light dropped and the sunset began to fade away, it was too dark to shoot anymore…but the sky looked pretty cool to the west, so leaving my 300mm on, I just took a few shots, bordering the edges of the frame with some trees in the distance.  I didn’t actually see the eagle until I got home.

Make no mistake, this isn’t any kind of award winner, but it’s interesting to me how just having a bird in the picture makes a good bit of difference.  It gives a certain context to the story behind the image.  Little things mean a lot sometimes I guess.
