September Aurora

September 2, 2025

Being in the right place and the right time for the Aurora (Northern Lights) around here is a tricky thing. Many times, the data looked good…at least good enough to justify going out in the middle of nowhere for a few hours and seeing if anything popped up.

Usually it didn’t.

But every now and then, something. beautiful happens. On this particular night in September, it wasn’t an epic show, but it was enough to wet the whistle.

The moon shown brightly over the landscape, which no doubt washed out the color somewhat but the trade off is you get a nice detail of the landscape. With enough color left in the sky to make an image worth posting.
