Prairie Fire – Discovery Park

November 26, 2018

It probably comes as no surprise that Muscatine Iowa is known for it’s sunsets.  Mark Twain said as much when he worked on the local newspaper.  It’s what he remembers most about the city.

Not much has changed between now and then.  We still have some awesome sunsets, particularly in the late fall.  This image was taken during one of those breath taking, end of the day visions, out at Discovery Park.

I had always wanted to include some of the ornamental grasses they had out there, they always reminded me a bit of the wild prairie…maybe something settlers used to see when they first crossed through Iowa and the great plains.  I imagine it was an expansive, seemingly endless see of prairie grass.  And maybe those pioneers saw a few awesome sunsets of their own.
