I think it’s fair to say, I view nature as my escape (as many people do these days). For a few moments, I can forget about the news, the daily crisis, and the pains of the world in their many forms. Give me these wild places and the solitude that comes with them, and I’ll be fine. And the truth is, it’s important to be good and well…it serves no one to be overwhelmed and incapacitated by the events that swirl around. So I no longer feel guilty about stepping away or pulling back momentarily from those things I believe in and choose to support. The challenges will certainly still be there when I return…but I am different…because the wild places recharge and inspire most anyone that walks in them. They are the best therapy I know of for a chaotic world.
