Coopers Hawk – From The Shadows

January 31, 2020

This is a re-edit of an image from last year…I wanted it to be a bit more moody and darker.  The Coopers Hawk is a bird of the forest…with an agility and power well suited to flashing between limbs and branches at break-neck speed.  It is the perfect bird hunting design.  This one was perched in such a way that a touch of morning light hit it nicely on the left side…while the wooded backdrop was darker and more diffused.  In some ways, this mood, and image make the bird look kind of sinister but it’s not really.  Yes, the backyard birds aren’t all that happy to see one around, but like all elements in nature, it has its purpose and its rightful place in the scheme of things.
