
Most people would assume that winter does not bring a bounty of food with it for eagles. And no doubt, it is a challenging time for survival for most things as the temperatures plummet. For those that make it through the harshest days however, there is a buffet waiting as the ice melts. Fish, some long trapped in the ice, remain relatively fresh and edible, and in some places they can number in the 1000’s…making for easy pickings. Maybe it’s kind of a reward for weathering the worst of the storms and cold.
