What’s In The Sky Tonight?

September 29, 2025

While out looking for the Space Station to pass over, I figured I’d pass some time shooting a star trail shot. I let it run for about 45 minutes. I should know better than to point the lens to the North…its a main flight path for many airplanes.

If you end up with just a couple it’s no big deal to remove them later on, but with this many in the sky, I’m just not up for that right now. Still you do get an idea of how much is actually flying over in a short amount of time.

Airplanes, satellites, and yes, there’s a meteor in there too if you look closely.

Interestingly in most shots like this of late I’m picking up meteors in almost everyone and seeing a few by eye too.

Polaris, or the North Star, is smack in the middle of the star trails.
