For people that feed backyard birds, having a Sharp-shinned Hawk stop by for a lookie-loo is not an uncommon thing. This hawk in the accipiter family feeds mostly on small birds. This makes them an unwelcomed guest at times…not by me…but certainly for my backyard bird friends. They seem to be pretty well equipped to deal with such threats for the most part but every now and then the dinner bell rings. This guy moved on (still hungry) after about 20 minutes of basking in the sunshine.
