The mink is a small but amazing predator. And I’m not sure if there’s anything that it won’t try to hunt that would be in it’s general size range.
I know for a fact it’s not above going after birds, up in the trees, at night…confirmed by a raucous sound coming from the backyard one evening. Birds like this don’t usually fly after dark but we had one brush up against the window…heard the sounds, and a flashlight exposed this critter slinking down out of the tree. But they don’t obviously need the stealth of darkness to get busy. It’s also not unusual to see them swim pretty well and take a fish from time to time. All in all, I’ve pretty well made my mind up that I wouldn’t want to tangle with one if it were a pound for pound battle.
