What a difference a year makes. 2020 was looking on paper to be one of the most fun and interesting years for photography…it was a chance to return to some subjects that were a first for me last year…and you know, you always hope to do a little better with some experience. But one by one, the plans have been toppled by a bug that started half way around the world. A small world if I do say so myself.
I just got word from a friend that the National Balloon Classic in Indianola was cancelled…and really this doesn’t come as a big surprise. You’ll get no complaints from me, because people are just trying to make the best decisions they can through some challenging times. We all want things to return to some sense of normal. And they will…in time.
As for me, it’s been a good lesson in learning to pivot a bit. No, I’m not sitting on my fanny doing nothing…or worse yet, grumbling and griping because things didn’t work out the way I wanted them to. What good is there in that? Taking pictures is therapy after all…it’s the best remedy I know of to retain some sanity and some peace…well, other than maybe flying in a hot air balloon. That looks like a great escape too.
So onward we go…let’s see what the rest of this interesting year will bring.
