Silent Light

August 22, 2021

Silent light

Only the Perseids Meteor Shower would get me out of bed at 3am. With the hope of seeing a few really good burners, Kim and I headed out for some star gawking. Problem was, it was partially cloudy and getting worse all the time. In about a half hour we did see about six nice meteors, with the night sky being accented with bursts of heat lightning in the south. As the clouds converged above us, I focused on the lightning for a bit. It’s an interesting thing…to see blazing meteors above you, and lightning not far off, and not a rumble or sizzle could be heard. It was eery and cool, and totally worth getting up early for.
