A few years back, the bridge over the Mississippi river at Muscatine Iowa was something to see. Color changing lights were added to the structure and it made it a great subject to photograph at night. Unfortunately some painting and repairs needed to be done in 2017, and while the lights are scheduled to come back on at some point, up to now they have not. Too bad, as it made the downtown riverfront come alive with color.
This was one of the first shots I ever took at night with my Olympus EM1. The live composite feature is terrific for star trails as you see here. The other interesting thing about this photograph is the star trails themselves. Notice the converging of the north and south rotations over the bridge. I hadn’t planned on that happening but it was a cool thing to discover after the exposure was completed.
