This was a popular perch on the morning I sat nearby in my portable blind. I had watched a few birds perch on this old Iowa river snag a time or two in the past. So on a day when the waters around it finally opened up from the ice, I found the timing to be perfect…a number of birds came and went throughout the morning, but none of them displayed the type of prominence and power that this young eagle did. She just looked like she owned it.
