Pine Creek Evenng

July 27, 2021

Old mill sunset

An evening at the Pine Creek Grist Mill is always a relaxing, seemingly timeless, experience. Were it not for the approaching sunset it would be easy to think that time simply stood still there. But nightfall brings on new life and vibrancy as Little Brown Bats begin to emerge from the mill. It’s great fun to watch them hunt insects over the creek and a perfect end to a beautiful afternoon.

Iowa by the way has an interesting array of bat species and all of them provide a great public service of insect control.
