The Red Winged Blackbird is so very common. They seem to be everywhere you look. Despite their abundance it sure seemed to take awhile to get a decent photograph of one. I have always loved the contrast of the black body and those vibrant red wing patches. Usually only a sliver of red shows up until they get into their boisterous spring call…where they seem to go at the task with all the gumption of an opera singer. It starts deep in the body and eventually explodes in a full on reverberation. It seemed like a good way to start the day for a blackbird. As for me, I’ll attempt to remain quiet and composed.
