Moon Walk – Badlands National Park

December 3, 2018

Badlands National Park is a terrific place to take the family.  During the summer months it’s pretty busy but certainly not anything compared to a place like Yellowstone.  That park simply get’s overloaded with tourists.  The Badlands in comparison, is a retreat.

The scenic overlooks are quite spectacular, as are the various peaks and formations.  But I think one of the best places for kids is the Fossil Exhibit Trail, shown here.  The walk way guides you around various areas where a number of fossils have been recovered and signs tell you more about it’s past inhabitants and history.  Who know’s, the experience might help start a career in paleontology!

Although this may look like the moon or some alien planet, it’s actually from the Fossil Exhibit area.  Late summer fires out west will often create this very heavy haze, which makes shooting sunsets and sunrises very interesting.
