Ice Breaker – Bald Eagle

February 19, 2020

Eagles have this thing for working on the edge of the ice.  Seems like risky business to me, but then I don’t have wings.  Fish, frozen in the ice, will eventually be freed by thawing and currents…sometimes the birds will land and pick them out…often falling through the thin ice…or like this one, they get a bit impatient and try to pluck the fish out, just as they would in the open water.  Sometimes this works…sometimes it doesn’t…but they’ll keep trying until they end with a meal.
