The old timers called this “heat lightning”. Hot and muggy days led to hot and muggy nights, that are so typical of Iowa summers. And this is prime time for lightning that makes no sound…no rumble, no crackling…it’s just eerily quiet. On this night it was superb…numerous, almost constant flashes that lasted for several hours. All I had to do was set up on the banks of the Mississippi and let my camera do it’s thing.
