Yesterday, a couple of little kids came out with their mom to watch the eagles. She was interested in getting some pictures but the kids were more interested in playing and running around in the grass…as little ones are prone to do. Fortunately, they were taking a short break from their created chaos when an adult eagle came rocketing over them. It did a full-fledged, dynamic wingover just 30′ over their heads, then it dropped to the water and snatched a very large shad just a little ways from shore. They watched the whole thing. They appeared absolutely in awe…even speechless for a moment before becoming giddy and ramped up about the miracle they just witnessed up close. Then they went back to playing and enjoying their own creative vision of the world…hopefully a little happier, and maybe a little more connected to the natural world.
