Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened ~ Dr. Seuss
As a long time fan of the Kansas City Royals…today I say goodbye and pay tribute to Alex Gordon, who for 14 seasons, set a work ethic that I suspect no one will match. He overcame many things to become one of the top outfielders in the majors, but he leaves behind a tremendous legacy and an array of accomplishments. Seven Gold Gloves, 3 All Star selections, and a World Series Championship (2015), just to name a few. His 9th inning home run in the first game of the World Series, tied the game and allowed the Royals to go on to win it in 14 innings. This glorious moment will no doubt stand the test of time in Royals history.
My family and I have been fortunate to watch the Royals and Gordon play on a number of occasions. We will miss him in left field…but I’m happy that he can now spend more time with his young family…and who knows, we may see him again around baseball down the road. Until then, here’s wishing you happiness in retirement Alex…and for all the great Royal memories.
