Adaptable Birds

February 10, 2023

There is one trait above any other that benefits the Bald Eagle. Adaptability. Baldies live in every state in the US, other than Hawaii, (they are abundant in Alaska) and can be found throughout Canada, and even in Mexico. They prefer to feed on fish and typically live near some form of water, be it an ocean, lake, river, or stream. But they will also hunt other critters and do a fair share of scavenging if they have to. If things get really tough in one particular area, they can fly long distances to find better or more abundant sources of food. And they generally tolerate things found in modern life and human habitats pretty well…including taking advantage of manmade structures like river dams, where they find good sources of stunned fish.
